About Us

The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Porter County Public Library System (PCPLS). Since 1985, we’ve partnered closely with library leadership to understand community needs and provide meaningful support—raising over $750,000 to date!

Thanks to these contributions, the library has been able to:

  • Enhance and expand PCPLS collections

  • Fund library events and reading programs

  • Provide tuition reimbursement for staff pursuing further education

Board Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month at 3:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor Boardroom at the Valparaiso Branch.

Sale Room Hours

Valparaiso Branch

  • Wednesday: 12:30-6:30 pm

  • Saturday: 10:00 am-4:00 pm

All other branches offer “mobile market” book sales during library hours.
